Your guide to boiler warranties

When you have a new boiler installed, it will come with a boiler warranty. So if something should go wrong, then your boiler will be covered. In this handy guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know.
From why you need a boiler warranty, what it covers – to how you can make a claim. Before we get into the details, let’s start with a few basics.
A warranty is an agreement from the boiler manufacturer that if anything goes wrong with the boiler, they have a duty to come out and fix it. This only remains valid if the boiler is regularly serviced and maintained.
Boiler warranties are designed to provide you with peace of mind, knowing that your boiler is covered in the event of a breakdown or fault. If a fault or breakdown occurs with your boiler during its warranty period, the manufacturer should organise a repair or replacement.
Most boilers come with a warranty as standard. Your boiler warranty covers you and the boiler manufacturer in a law-binding agreement, which promises to repair or replace your system when you get a new boiler installed. This written agreement covers you, should something go wrong.
Below, we outline the benefits of having a boiler warranty or guarantee and what you need to do to ensure it is kept valid.
A manufacturer-backed warranty will safeguard you against a number of boiler problems, which will save money on repair costs.
Generally, a boiler warranty will cover the problems associated with your boiler – ranging from leaks to faulty heat exchangers, that might arise from a manufacturing issue with your appliance.
Different manufacturers offer different warranty packages. For example, an Ideal boiler warranty may have a different warranty compared to a Vaillant boiler. These are covered in more detail in the warranty documents sent by the manufacturer.
The types of cover available can sometimes change as brands will compete to offer the best package so it’s worth checking on the manufacturer’s website
The length of your boiler warranty depends on the specific brand or model you choose. Some companies offer extended warranty periods.
For example, BOXT offers extended warranties of up to 10 years depending on the brand of the boiler you choose. You can select which warranty period best suits your needs when choosing your new boiler.
Boiler Manufacturer | Warranty period |
---|---|
Ideal | 7 years |
Vaillant | 2 years |
Worcester Bosch | Up to 10 years |
Brands such as Worcester Bosch and Vaillant now come with a guarantee, not just a warranty. This provides complete peace of mind as you’ll be covered for any parts, labour, or call-out fees if something goes wrong.
There are a number of conditions you need to meet for your boiler warranty to remain valid for the period of coverage. The most common boiler warranty terms and conditions include the following:
